Reasons to stay alive
I've been meaning to write this but I always forget. In a few days, we will face 2023 and its mysteries. I am both excited and afraid of what's in store for me. Will it be a great year? I have a lot of questions but I don't want answers. I want to figure it out on my own.
One more year until my brain is fully developed and I'll be a real adult by then. I hope that I won't be as emotional as I am right now. I sometimes despise my empathy and my heart but without these, I wouldn't have the courage and the talent to write.
What are my reasons to stay alive for the new year? Hmm. Let me think thoroughly. What exactly kept me alive despite the fact that I almost lost my mind earlier this year?
1. The good food you'll eat.
Yes. FOOD. I mean, tasty food makes me happy. It takes away my sadness and exhaustion. If I die now, I'll miss the chance to eat all the food that will make me happy.
2. The places you haven't been to.
Travelling to places that piqued my interest have always been in my bucket list. I'm planning to go to 3 places for next year and I don't want to miss it in a heartbeat.
3. Laughter.
The jokes my friends and I share is always dear to me. I am thankful that I get the chance to laugh with them. It's a privilege. Their sense of humor is immaculate! For someone like me whose sense of humor is petty, I'm suprised they've kept me around in the band.
4. Family.
Mine's not perfect. We have some fair share of quarrels, arguments and misunderstandings but we get by. I run into my famiy whenever loneliness knocks on my door.
5. The things you're about to do in the coming years.
Please don't limit yourself and think about the things you can do if you'll let yourself experience life and its uncertainties.
6. The people you're going to meet.
And love! In case we're forgetting something, there's billions of us here. You'll meet a lot of people. Some will bring happiness and joy. Some lessons, pain, and heartbreaks. However, both are essential for our growth and I think that's beautiful.
7. Hobbies.
Please take one hobby and lose yourself while doing it. I have to admit I get lost when I paint, read, and write. I let my creative juice take me to wonderland and it's always worth it.
8. Sunsets.
Ah! Now this is my favorite. Sunsets by the beach. Wouldn't it be a bummer if you lose the chance to see another sunset just because you're to overwhelmed with your negative thoughts?
9. PAIN.
I know nobody wants pain. But life will never be fulfilling without pain. We won't mature and realize things if we don't go through pain once in our lives. I believe it is essential and it's what makes us human and life magical.
10.
Noticed how I left #10 blank? Yes. I did it on purpose. It's your turn to think and write your reasons to stay alive.
I believe in you. We are resilient and we will get through this.
To ups and downs!
-E.
PS. Pain is temporary. Everything is fleeting and will surely pass by. Hold on to your reasons and continue sailing. Let's see each other by 2024!
